Unlicensed Medicines

UL Medicines supply a wide range of unlicensed products to meet the special clinical needs of an individual patient. This may be because:

• There is no equivalent licensed medicine available in the UK
• A licensed medicine is available but not in a suitable formulation
• The equivalent licensed medicine is likely to be unavailable for a significant period of time
• A product license has been relinquished within the UK

These patient needs can be met by either sourcing and supplying the product, following MHRA approval to do so, from another country where it is licensed or providing it as a “special”.
